Exchange 2007 - No IMAP service | Service msExchangeIMAP4 was not found on computer
I recently had to uninstall and reinstall the Client Access portion of Exchange 2007 to help with recreating the EWS virtual directory. This worked, yet now I do not have the Exchange IMAP or POP3 service under services and PS commands so that the
service name cannot be found...
I have been researching and researching online without much success to this problem. Short of uninstalling and reinstalling the Client Access Role of Exchange 2007 I am wondering if there is any resolution to this? Thanks for any help!

I don't think E2K7 has a "reinstall" option like a lot of software packages do. Further, I don't think the "recoverserver" option would be applicable here, either.
The first thing I would try is just to apply the latest service pack (SP3 was just released) and see if that finds the missing service and installs it again.

It does have an option to add/remove roles under Programs / change.
I thought about applying SP3, but am wary of applying a Service Pack to a troubled system. I'd rather have it running right then apply it. Then I know where to point the finger if something doesn't work!

Hi,
You can try the following steps to repair these two services:
1. On Client Access server, Go to Program Files\Micorosoft\Exchaneg Server\Client Access\PopImap\, Please check if the following files present on this folder.
Micorosft.exchange.imap3.eventlog.dll
Microsoft.exchange.pop3.eventlog.dll
Microsoft.exchange.popimap.core.dll
Microsoft.exchange.imap4.exe
Microsoft.exchange.imap4.config
Microsoft.exchange.imap4service.exe
Microsoft.exchange.pop3.exe
Microsoft.exchange.pop3.config
Microsoft.exchange.pop3service.config
2.
If all files
still presents, please check the registry keys relating to IMAP and POP3 :
Open regedit, expand to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services]. Under ''services", do you see the the "MSExchange POP3" and "MSExchange IMAP4"?
If no, please download the reg files and import the two keys to your server. I have upload the reg file to my skydrive. You can download it from
here.
Note: Before you import these reg files, please first export the ''services' key as a backup.
Then open services.msc and see if there are the Exchange IMAP or POP3 service.

Thanks for the tip. Last night I ended up just uninstalling the CAS role, then reinstalling it again and the services where installed.
